As the Solution Strategist for Cerner’s Open Platforms, Drew Torres focuses on accelerating the pace of innovation in healthcare by giving clients and independent app developers the tools they need to be successfully build solutions on Cerner’s open platforms.
He makes an impact by setting the roadmap for the future of API development, and by engaging with clients and the developer community to bring new ideas, and added value through apps.
Drew joined Cerner in 2012 as a system engineer in Cerner’s interoperability organization implementing HIEs, and facilitating client connectivity to regional, state, and national networks. In 2015 Drew became a Solution Strategist focusing on API development and Cerner’s Open Developer Experience code.
During his time at Cerner, Drew has created the strategy that enables client to provide their patient apps to connect to APIs, as required by ONC and CMS. Drew regularly participates in HL7 workgroups to further the development of the HL7 FHIR® specification, participates in the Argonaut group to support broad adoption of SMART on FHIR across the industry, and has participated in the initial pilot for the Sync for Science project for advancing the precision medicine initiative.
Drew holds a Bachelor’s of Engineering degree from Stevens Institute of Technology.
